Joao Moreira Salles & Natalia Brizuela – In conversation – April 14-15, 2016

This page contains documentation of the final two nights of the Eduardo Coutinho retrospective presented by the Pacific Film Archive at the Berkeley Art Museum (BAMPFA) in conjunction with the publication of Film Quarterly Vol. 69 No. 3 with its special dossier on Coutinho. The series was curated by Natalia Brizuela who on these final evenings appears in conversation with Brazilian documentary filmmaker and producer of Coutinho’s final five films, Joao Moreira Salles. Their discussions of the two films shown on these evenings, O fim e o princípio (The End and the Beginning, 2005) and Últimas Conversas (Last Conversations, 2015), significantly illuminate Coutinho’s work and the importance of his contribution to documentary.
